Oneida? Never heard of it!

The Oneida Community was front-page news in the 1800’s for their revolutionary practices – they coined the term “Free Love" way back then! But today, the only thing most people know is the silverware they made. Yes, Oneida.

At its peak, 300 people live and love under one roof - until forces from the outside world, from inside the community, from the human heart itself - bring it crashing down. At the center of it all is Tirzah Miller, the idealistic niece and confidante of the fiery founder. Must she choose to save her community - or herself?

Oneida asks - WHY do we let the government legislate who and how we love? HOW MUCH better people – kinder, more loving – can we be? WHAT do you do when a democracy is under attack?

Oneida began as a commission from the Village Theatre (Seattle), and has received developmental support from NAMT, The Tank and Musical Theatre Factory (NYC), Pallas Theatre (DC) and MMD (Belfast Residency).
